Our mission is to give children a space to let their imaginations run wild! Then, to find ways of harnessing their ideas and turning them into forms that can be experienced by all of us.  This coming season, we will be focusing on the deep connections between music and the world around us. Kids enjoy a rich and diverse music education, experiencing this art-form each day through a myriad of artistic mediums: cinema art, instrumental, theatrical expression or maybe in ways that we haven’t thought of yet!  Our professional artist educators in residence will develop collaborative projects with students over the course of the full school year that will culminate into an end-of-the year production to be shared with family, friends and the greater community!

Most importantly, our studio is a place of friendship and collaboration where every voice is invited to sing and every voice is celebrated!

We hope you will join us!

“Music of Art and Cinema!”

1st Class: grades 2-3

2nd Class: grades PK-1

In this class students will study how music can be portrayed both physically and conceptually in both visual art and film. We will use a wide range of age appropriate materials and concepts, from paint to plaster and beyond to flip books and stop action animation!! The development of music and the development of visual art and cinema has always moved hand in hand since the beginning of time. Students will learn about what was going on in the world socially, politically and environmentally that may have influenced artists, musicians, performers and directors to create great art and then use those concepts and techniques to create their own works, representing their present moment in time!

“Developing Musicality through the Theatre Arts”

1st Class: grades PK-1

2nd Class: grades 2-3

In this class students will continue to explore the music found within language and movement. “Timing,” on stage is something that is mastered by understanding the unsung rhythm and melodies within the telling of a story. Great theatre is achieved when all players work in concert with each other to create a phenomenal symphony of emotion and drama! Repertoire will be chosen based on the students enrolled, in order to create a rich and challenging program.

“Cinema Sinfonico!”

grades 3-6

In this class students will work to produce their own films from soup to nuts! We will use music from the concert hall to the operatic stage to original compositions to be the inspiration for students own creative writing to create their own stories and plays that will be brought to life through visual art, theatre, music and the magic of film! Think Mozart meets graphic novel meets Hitchcock!

“Composition and Recording”

grades 3-6

In this class students will continue to learn how music is built, what inspires it to be built and what are the techniques and tools used to build it. A composer should never be limited to any one musical “language,” so the goal of this class will also be to use the versatility of the guitar to expose students to as many different sounds and techniques as possible; to give them a broad and colorful palette from which to create their own musical masterpieces. We will also start to work on the basics of how music is recorded and produced; culminating in a final album of the full year’s compositions!

“Music of Art and Cinema!”

grades PK-2
3:30pm-5:15pm

In this class students will study how music can be portrayed both physically and conceptually in both visual art and film. **This class is a 90 min class with a break in the middle and will be tailored specifically to the students enrolled, so students may enroll for BOTH the Monday and Wednesday session.

“Jump & Jam!”

grades PK-1

In this class students will work together as a band/ensemble using a variety of instruments and children’s stories from around the world to explore music from a wide variety of styles and cultures.  Imagine everything from Bossa Nova to Calypso to Funk!

“A Pre Conservatory Preparation Class!”

grade 2
(Students must have taken at least 1 year of EG Kids Group Guitar classes and be current Private Students)
In this class students will embody music fundamentals through singing and movement first, before applying it to the guitar. This process will develop their musical memory, musical ear, inner sense of rhythm, as well as guitar and ensemble playing skills. Through singing, and theatrical and musical games, students will not only have fun, but will also learn to sing, and hear and memorize notes and intervals. They will learn to sing in solfege, will learn how to read rhythm and to embody it through movement. Throughout this course, the focus will shift from the singing and movement into the guitar, and students will put together a guitar ensemble based on the materials they have previously sang. This class is a preparation for the EzraGuitar Conservatory Track program.

  • It is such a great program that Maoz runs - amazing to see such great results so quickly!

    Emma, Parent at PS 199
  • Maoz Ezra's classes are very well structured. My son came home and 'performed' for our family after learning the "Old MacDonald" for the first time. This is after just a few 30 minute classes. Maoz is very patient and spends time individually with each child in the class. My son is really gaining a wealth of musical knowledge from this fabulous class!

Jessica Walsh (Jessica’s son is six years old)
  • My daughter has grown up in EzraGuitar's After School since 2014. I couldn't be happier! I recommend any of their programs to friends!

  • My son has grown musically after each lesson over 5 years with EzraGuitar. It's helped him in his daily life too, he's more focused and confident! He's been blessed to have such a great teacher to guide him!

Carol, Jalen’s Mom EzraGuitar student since 2010
  • We are so thankful for the year Jack had with you. We’ve seen him gone from barely being able to balance the guitar on his leg (!) to giving us “Spiderman” concerts in our home, as well as testing us on the parts of the guitar.  And of course, meeting so many kids in a nice, small setting was a huge bonus to us. Thank you, thank you again. It was a wonderful year and we look forward to next year. Happy summer, all!

Kayne, Jack’s Mom (After School Student) 2018
  • Thank you for modeling and fostering such amazing creativity in our children 🙂

Suzannah, Tallulah’s Mom (After School Student) 2015-2018
  • What makes Ezra Guitar great is its open heart and the creative chance it gives itself to grow.  Who does this benefit? My kid. Thanks Ezra for your programming, child to adult ratio (awesome), and knowing that at the end of a long day, that your warmth and knowledge of my son always leaves him with a smile as we journey home. Fondly,

Sasha, Arun’s Mom (After School Student) 2014-2018
